As senior vice president, Strategy and Business Development for CenterPoint Energy, Jim Dumler is responsible for corporate strategic planning and advancing business development across CenterPoint Energy’s portfolio of businesses. Jim brings breadth and depth of growth development to these responsibilities, as well as leadership for middle-market and large organizations primarily in the energy, chemical, basic industry, private equity and business-to-business service markets. Throughout his career, Jim has held organizational, operating and financial leadership positions, delivering significant results in a range of industries and situations.
Prior to joining CenterPoint Energy, Jim worked with Koch Industries, Purina Mills, GE Plastics and Republic Financial Corporation. His previous positions include senior managing director strategic investments for Republic Financial Corporation, chairman and CEO - American Identity. During his 12 year career with Koch Industries, he held leadership roles including Purina Mills, Inc. chairman and CEO; Koch Capital Services executive vice president; Koch Hydrocarbon CFO; Koch Development Group managing director; and Koch Chemical vice president and business leader.
His education includes an MBA(honors) from Duke University, a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering(honors) from Washington University at St. Louis and a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from The Colorado College.
Jim is active in community and professional societies including the Association for Corporate Growth, National Association of Corporate Directors and Turnaround Management Association. He also serves on the board of the South Texas Region of the Arthritis Foundation and recruits for Washington University’s engineering programs.
